Is hair treatment safe during the entire pregnancy?

Hi, I am 24 weeks pregnant. Just wondering is doing hair treatment during pregnancy is safe? does it contains any chemical that can be transmitted through hair to baby? It is similar to dying or perming our hair?Is hair treatment safe during the entire pregnancy?
You are going to get a lot of conflicting answers on here. I am not sure what you mean by treatment, (I am clueless about that sort of thing) but I would just wait and ask your doctor. If you are talking about anything with chemicals in it than it is better to just wait. People on here argue about this all the time, so you really will not get a straight answer. I have a ';high risk'; pregnancy and both my perinatologist AND my stylist have told me from day one that I can continue dying my hair. My stylist owns a top salon and has been doing hair since my MIL went to her when my husband was a toddler (he's 32). I'd say they'd know.





The only things you need to know are...





1-Your hair may not react as normal. I have trouble keeping my color for as long as normal--it fades in 6-8 weeks instead of staying permanent.





2-The fumes might make you more sensitive--make sure you get your treatment in a well ventilated area. You may also want to breathe through a towel...I had to when I was 6 weeks pregnant, but not afterwards--I was a bit more nauseous back then.





3-With Perms, your hair may not hold the curls, or only part of your hair may.





I think dyeing is much safer (in terms of looking bad, not the baby's health), but I'd stick to subtle changes just in case the dye takes unevenly or badly.
I don't know what kind of treatment you're asking about, but my doc assured me that hair dye does not cause problems in a pregnancy that is at least into the second trimester. She said it doesn't really cause problems before that either, but it hasn't been tested much.
The biggest worry is fumes.





I know dying hair is safe as long as your in an extremely ventilated area but I wouldn't do it much, and perming is also safe but doesn't always stick during pregnancy because of hormones.
I dyed my hair twice during my second trimester and my baby and i are ok!
